New Toy!

Cricut Expression 290300 Personal Electronic CutterPart of growing a business is buying new equipment.  My husband and I have been working on some ideas and decided to act on them.  I'm not going to go into the details of the projects we are working on (don't want to ruin the surprise), but I will reveal the latest addition to our family, a Cricut Expressions machine.  If you're not familiar with one of these machines, click on the picture to learn more about it.  We are so excited!  Although these machines run off of little cartridges that provide the cutting designs, we found a wonderful software package that is more suited to what we want to do.  It's called Sure Cuts A Lot and it allows for more freedom and creativity, especially with being able to use designs we can't find on the cartridges.  Cartridges still serve a purpose - you can use them without being hooked up to a computer and there are ones with copyrighted images (Disney, Hello Kitty, etc.) so you can use them legally.  For those of you who have one of these babies (or plan on getting one), I have added some links for some of the wonderful resources I've found out there.  We're still practicing using this new "toy" and my next challenge is to find some help in determining all the right settings to get the blade to cut through different types of papers.  Stay tuned - we can't wait to start showing off some of our creations!

It's a great machine, but quite an investment. The best prices we found were on Amazon and KSL.com's classifieds. Apparently, lots of people in Utah have bought these machines and many are eager to sell them because of finances or lack of space. We're hoping this investment will pay off. Good luck to you in the challenge as well!
