They say it is better to give than to receive and I believe it. At my day job, I am preparing for a Gala in October that will raise funds for scholarships for our graduates. Our students often miss out on opportunities to qualify and apply for traditional scholarships while they are receiving treatment and we're excited to be able to do something for them even after they leave our program. Putting an event like this together takes a lot of work and we need all the support we can get. We have been gathering donations for the silent auction and live auction and it's amazing to see how some people are so generous with their contributions. I have the privilege of updating the list of donors on our blog and it moves me to see how much people are willing to do, especially during these rough economic times. Some of our alumni are sending their contributions and I can't wait to see them.

The winner will receive:
1 package of 12 ornament shaped Foamies from Darice
1 Snowman counted cross stitch Christmas ornament kit from the New Berlin Co.
1 "Best Teacher" counted cross stitch ornament kit from the New Berlin Co.
1 "Courage to be Free" counted cross stitch ornament kit from NeedleMagic
1 Birds Flourish clear mini stamp from Inkadinkado

My most memborable gift I ever received was a flower that my daughter had made from clay when she was in pre-school. She is my oldest and this was a mothers day gift so it was the first gift i received that she made herself. I cried. I still have that flower to this day.

My fiance asked me to marry him on New Years Eve, which is also my birthday, and gave me a huge ring, so that's pretty memorable! :)

Heritage school looks like an excellent place, and something we need more of. It seems like they offer something for everyone, so the students can really find their niche.

My most memorable gift was on Mother's Day a year after my sister passed away in 2004. Her 4yr. daughter, who I raise, made me the most beautiful Mother's Day card because as she put it "I was a good mommy just like her mommy was". I still have that card and the calendar she made me too.

I was asked to give a box from one friend who wanted to remain anonymous to another, mutual friend of ours who was having a tough time financially. It turned out, the box was full of gift certificates for some awesome stores and they had the best Christmas and to this day, has no idea who gave them the package- I was lucky enough to be the messenger. What a wonderful experience!
My husband made me a jewelry box with diamond earrings inside!
I had a trip over Labor Day and bought my dad a big bag of yummy treats as a gift on my return - divinity, fried pies, homemade fudge, etc. He LOVES his sweets. Two days later he was diagnosed with diabetes and now can't have any of them.
The best gift I received has been a trio of etsy owl items from my boyfriend. It's cute to think of him scouring etsy for the perfect owl apron! omydarlingblog(at)gmail(dot)com

My brother and I took picture together for Christmas one year, and we tricked my dad into bringing his beloved chocolate lab out to take pictures with "Santa" and when we gave him our pictures he teared up. Best gift giving ever.
